At times, a system is required to be controlled remotely and the users are to be saved from any technological manifestation. Most of us need a free tool for this purpose. TeamViewer is the obvious choice. It is simple to use, very fast and suitable for non-commercial purpose.
Even a layman can understand its features very easily. The latest tool which performs the same function is introduced by Google. It is Chrome Remote Desktop. You not only control a Chrome session with this add-on but the whole computer can be controlled remotely.
Remote Desktop of Chrome is very heavy with a size of 20MB. In case your connection is not fast, it takes few minutes to get installed. TeamViewer is a 4MB download. The Remote Desktop of Chrome is much bigger than this. Once it is downloaded, the add-on is displayed on New Tab page in the form of a button. When you click on this button, you will visit an authorization page.Click on ‘Continue’:

Now your computer or other computers can be controlled remotely with the help of this set up. It is little tricky to see the button for Chrome Remote Desktop on New Tab page:
A user looks for this button on address bar but he has to be guided to New Tab page. Otherwise, the set up process is very smooth.
Click on ‘Access a Shared Computer’ or ‘Share This Computer’.
On clicking ‘Share This Computer’, a PIN code of 12 digits will be displayed. Copy this PIN code to your chat session.
It is simpler than TeamViewer. Two codes are used in TeamViewer: session password and user ID whereas Remote Desktop of Chrome has a single code. If another party wants to control the system, he has to click on ‘Access a Shared Computer’ and type PIN code:

There is an option for you and its user to close the session whenever required by clicking on “Close Remote Desktop BETA” window. This window is quite big and becomes an obstacle at times.
Comparison of Chrome Remote Desktop with TeamViewer
Chrome Remote Desktop is not as good as Teamviewer is. It provides fewer options and is a very heavy download as compared to TeamViewer. File transfer is not supported by it. There are two features which make it better than TeamViewer.
One is that you can use it for all purposes and it is completely free. Second is that you can use it on Mac, Chromebooks, Linux and Windows. Chromebook computer can be controlled remotely only by using this.
