How To Make Skype Video Calls On Your Android Honeycomb Tablet


Skype is the most popular and widely used application for video and voice calls. It supports many operating systems of mobile including Android. The video calls support very few devices which is quite disappointing. With the latest upgradation of Skype for Android, Skype has developed its video calling support with 14 devices.
This includes Motorola Xoom, Acer Iconia and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The drawback is that you have to enable video calling. Here we discuss how to make Skype calls on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Step 1 – Install the Latest Version Of Skype For Android

In case Skype is not installed on your system, check out Android market and install Skype or go tohttps://market.android.com/details?id=com.skype.raider.

If you already have Skype installed, see if it is updated. Else, update it manually. Go to Android Market. Click ‘My apps’ on the upper right of the screen.

Check out the list of the applications that have been installed. Select Skype. Click on ‘Update’. In case the automatic updates are enabled, Skype will be updated by default. To confirm, click ‘See details’.

Step 2 – Enable Video Calling

Go to your apps and open Skype. Go to the menu view of Skype which consists of call phones, Profile, Contacts. Click menu button. Open ‘Settings’.

Go to ‘Settings’ view. Go to ‘Video calls’ section. Look for the box ‘Enable video calling’. Check the same.

You may receive a notification that your device does not have the certificate to function with Skype.The video calls are enabled by clicking ‘Continue’.

When the video calling is getting enabled, Skype will be reloaded automatically. Once you are done with it, move ahead. Adjust other settings of video calling and make a video call on your tablet.

Step 3 – Make a Video Call

When you want to call your contacts, an option for ‘Skype video call’ will be displayed on your list.

If you are talking to your friend through a video call, the camera can be turned on or off. Go to the bottom at the right side and click on camera icon. Front camera is used by Skype by default. You have an option to use the camera at the back.
Both the landscape and portrait modes are supported by Skype for making video calls. You can switch in between both the modes. You simply need to enable auto-rotation.
