Most of us want our computer to be ready every time. It is annoying when the system takes long to boot up. There is a method to solve this concern. You can schedule the startups as well as the shutdowns. This saves the time and reduces the electricity bill too.
Startup On Schedule
This step depends upon the kind of BIOS used by your motherboard. Many motherboards have an option to power on at a particular time while few have not. BIOS means the ‘basic input/output system’. Here the configuration is set up at the lowest level. It is quite different from any other operating system.
Step 1. Start the Computer Again.
Step 2. In case you have recently purchased a computer, you will notice the promo screen irrespective of the kind of motherboard it has. You will receive the following command: Press DEL to enter BIOS. In case your computer is old, you will notice RAM check along with the detection of the hard drive. In both the cases; as soon as the computer restarts, tap DEL key in the first few seconds.
You will be introduced to BIOS in few seconds. In case the windows keep on starting again, this means there is some error. So you have to start your PC again. In case you have notebook computer, you have to search which key should be pressed to enter BIOS.
Step 3. The appearance of the BIOS will differ according to the kind of motherboard you have. Look for the menu “Power Management” or “Power”.

There is another option under this namely “Power on By RTC Alarm” or “Resume on RTC Alarm”. This option has to be enabled. Now you can set the frequency and the time when you want to start your system.
Step 4. While quitting BIOS setup, you must remember to choose the option ‘Save and Quit’.Reset button should not be pressed on your system. If you do so, you will not be able to save the settings. After this process is finished, your computer can be started at the frequency and the time set by you in BIOS. If this does not happen, check up with the motherboard manual.
Shutdown on Schedule
The shutdown steps are written exclusively for Windows 7 but you can follow the same in its other versions too.
Step 1. Hit Windows button. As soon as you type “task”, it will display Task Scheduler app in list. Now run this app.
Step 2. Go to right-hand panel. Hit “Create Basic Task”.
Step 3. Feed in the appropriate description and name. Click on Next.
Step 4. Choose a frequency when you want shutdown to happen. Click on Next.
Step 7. Go to Program/script box and type “shutdown.exe”. Go to Add arguments box and type “/s”. Click on Next.
Step 8. Click on Finish.
This completes the process. Your computer is now scheduled for startup as well as shutdown.
