Getting Started
Even if you are an amateur photographer, it is best to at least have an idea of what your shoot is going to be like before you start the actual shooting. You will also have to take into consideration the memory space available to you for the recording. Mathematically, each video clip cannot exceed five minutes on the iPhone.
Editing with iMovie
The iMovie is an iOS application that does not differ for the iPhone or the iPad2. The one difference is that your video clips in iPad will be lengthier than in your iPhone.
The first step to begin the editing is to press the + button. Doing this will direct you to the video clip timeline as well as some other features required for the editing.

In order to bring the clips under timeline you will have to tap on the Media Library option that is located in the menu bar. When you do this all the clips will come into the Camera Roll.

At this step you can add a few other clips (as well as photos) one by one. This is easy to do; single tap the Media Library and double tap the required clip/photo. Avoid mess and confusion by editing one clip at a time.
The basic idea of editing is to get rid of the unwanted shots and keep the one that are required. Do not necessarily elongate the video especially if it for others to view. Keep the video easy to watch.
Splicing Clips
There is a red timeline marker that is primarily used for splicing clips. Select the clip and then simply drag the marker to the point where you want to splice. Use your finger to make the cut by pressing in on the required mark.

While editing the video the dissolve transition will appear at the place where the cut has been made. However, the marker can again be slid to slice and edit some more portions from your video clip. It is recommended that you take out the unwanted footage.
The app provides you with yellow trim handles to change the timeline of the clip. The same can be done for photos as well.

Theme
Once you are done with splicing and editing of your video clips, it is time to introduce a theme. You have eight themes to choose from. The themes are given in the menu bar.

With each theme comes background music, customized title and style.
