How to Integrate Google Plus With Your Blog
Google Plus is creating a wave over the internet. It is connecting people at a wider platform. This is the reason why you should integrate it with your blog.
Similar to Facebook and Twitter, Google Plus can also be integrated to your blog by using various tools. First of all, you need to create a Google+ page specifically for your website. Open your Google+ account. Go to the navigation pane on the right. Click on ‘Create a Google+ page’.
Focus on your tagline. Your website or blog should cover those topics which are searched by most of the users. Choose a suitable photo that represents your website. Once the page is created, you can post comments, share stories, post images/videos and engage the users in a conversation.
The most important section is ‘About’ page. Your top ribbon should have a perfect selection of images that represents the content of your website. The introduction should be well-written, strong, precise and informative. You must add all the important details such as contact information and your website link.
Now you can integrate the tools of Google+.
Use Google+ Badge in Your Blog
The first step is to make a badge. This badge will link from your blog or website to the Google+ page of your site. This process is undertaken on your Google+ page. Go to the navigation pane in the left. There is a link for ‘Get Started’. Click on it. Search for ‘Connect Your Website’. Click on ‘Get the Badge’.
This process is quite easy. The Wizard provided by Google is very fast and completes the entire procedure very quickly. The URL that is linked to the new page should be completed. Once it is done, set up your badge. The choices are very less. However, you can use the big G+ image for the sidebars.
You can print your site name or keep it plain. Now the ‘head’ code needs to be highlighted. Paste this code in <head> tags. It will be pasted in the header.php file in WordPress.
Select a location in the body of the page where you want to place the badge. Paste href link there. In the following screenshot, it is pasted in the main template so that the content is shown on every page.
Place +1 Button On Your Site
You must add +1 button to your website or blog. This is very important as your posts can be shared by people by using this +1 button. Go to ‘Get Started’ in your Google+ account. Check out +1 button in the link.
Click on ‘Get the Code’. The button can be configured very easily without any complications.
Select the icon size along with the width of icon/text snippet. A code will appear in a field. Take <script> section of the code and place it in the header. Select a location on your page where you wish to place the button. Place “g:plusone” code there.
This link can be clicked to +1 the page. In case you are using WordPress, it is important that single.php file is edited. Any php page where the content is provided for individual posts should be edited. This applies the +1 button to all the individual articles.
