Managing Photos in The New Photo Apps in iOS 5

The operating system of iOS 5 has very unique features. Photo app now has a unique photo editing feature. Another important feature is the Photo Stream feature. Both the features are very useful for the photographers. These help them in keeping the things updated on the devices.

It does not matter which iOS device you have. The Photo Stream application will update all the photos instantly. If you take the photos with your iPad, these will be transferred to the iPhone immediately. The same applies in case of an iPhone.

The same feature applies on Mac with iPhoto. In case you are using the 9.2 version of iPhoto or above or Lion OS, the photos which appear in the Photo Stream of iPhone or iPad will appear in theiPhoto’s Photo Stream too. A folder is created there for this function. There are folders for last 12 months, last import, trash etc in iPhoto and it includes a folder for Photo Stream too.

You can edit the photos in your device. The photo can be edited by clicking on it in the folder. It can be edited in the Photo Stream too. If you select this option, you will get four choices: Crop, Red-Eye, Enhance and Rotate.

When you are done with the changes, click on ‘Save’. This will fix the photo permanently. In case the photo is edited in Photo Stream, a warning will be issued and you will be asked if you would like to save the photo in the camera roll. The camera roll will have another photo by performing this function.

If you take a photo with a non-iOS device, you can still edit it. But in this case, the photo will not be displayed in Photo Stream.

The photos can be edited in iPhoto in the similar way as in Photos app. In fact, it gives more editing options. The options include levels adjustment, changing color effects, retouch etc. Similar to the iOS 5 photo editing option, the photos can be edited in the Library or in Photo Stream. In Photo Stream, you will get a notification which will ask you if you would like to save the photos in the Library.

In iOS 5, the photos can be moved and shared in Photo app. Go to Photo Stream and hit the ‘Share’ button. Click the photo. These can now be printed, e-mailed and moved to a separate folder. You can even use these as a wallpaper, tweet these or assign these to a specific contact.

The sharing and editing features of Photo app are sufficient for its users. You must note that you cannot do any professional rework in photo editing feature.

Photoshop in Mac will give a different effect than this feature. When you move the photos, the quality of the image reduces to some extent. Do it only if it is required.
